01 OctRemoving Rust on the Cheap
Tried this while I had the carbs stripped this week – these linkages, springs etc were 100% covered with rust. You couldn’t see any bare metal at all, now look at them.
The product I immersed them in? ‘Vinegar’. Turns out this cutting edge technology can be found at Asda in a pint bottle for 13 pence. Okay Kurust is great on the car because it doesn’t drip, but vinegar actually seems more effective than anything I’ve bought before.
All I used to strip these was vinegar, then I degreased them, lubed them and put them back on the car. The cylindrical shafts had metal polish on them but nothing else has.
